Transformation-Oriented Middleware for Legacy System Integration
نویسندگان
چکیده
Most established companies have acquired legacy systems through mergers and acquisitions. The systems were developed independently of each other and very often they do not align with the evolving IT infrastructure. Still, they drive day-to-day business processes. Replacing the legacy application with new solutions might not be feasible, practical or cost a considerable amount of time. However, immediate integration might be a requirement for a strategic project, such as supply chain management or e-business. This article presents a transformation system for legacy system integration that allows flexible and effective transformation of data between heterogeneous systems. Sequences of transformations are described using a grammar based approach.

In Support of an Aspect-oriented Approach to Migrating Distributed Applications
Migrating distributed applications from one middleware to another is difficult in legacy software systems where middleware functionality is spread across and tangled with business logic. In these systems, the old middleware code has to be removed before the application is refactored and the new middleware functionality is added. However, when distributed applications are developed in an aspect-...
متن کاملTowards operational agility using service oriented integration of prototype and legacy systems
NATO has identified Web services standards as a key enabler for interoperability between the different military systems of the various NATO nations. Interoperability is required on several levels: Network hardware compatibility (NATO has workgroups that are addressing this), network protocol compatibility (IP has been chosen by NATO), middleware compatibility, and so on. In this paper, we addre...
متن کاملIntegration of Existing Programs into CORBA
In distributed object-oriented systems, middleware products like CORBA are employed to perform the actual distribution on a network of computers. Existing programs that are subject to distribution fall into two categories: (1) they lack structure and can only be reused by using wrapping and/or reengineering techniques, (2) the system was developed using object-based abstractions, but cannot dir...
متن کاملModel-Driven Software Migration
In this paper we propose model-driven techniques to migrate legacy systems into Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA). The proposal explores how querying and transformation techniques on TGraphs enable the integration of legacy assets into a new SOA. The presented graph-based approach is applied to the identification and migration of services in an open source Java software system.
متن کاملDistributed Systems: An Effective Information Sharing Approach for Legacy Systems
An important issue of distributed systems is interoperability. Lack of interoperability between distributed systems is a common problem with current and legacy applications. Since the legacy applications represent a major investment and for the most part can not be abandoned. Enterprises are looking for solutions that enable the integration of the legacy environments with the new breed of distr...
